Virat Kohli drives India to 2-1 series lead

Backed by Virat Kohli's century India registered 7 wicket victory over New Zealand in the third One Day International played at Mohali last evening. With India hunting down the target clinically it took 2-1 lead in the 5 match series.Chasing 286, hosts lost their openers with only 41 on board. Kohli and MS Dhoni then added 151 for the third wicket to stable the situation. Manish Pandey then stitched an unbroken 97 run partnership with Kohli to steer India home with 10 balls remaining. India made 289 for 3 in 48.2 overs.In process, Kohli made his 26th century and remained unbeaten at 154 while Dhoni made 80. Kohli now stands behind Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and Sanath Jayasuriya in terms of centuries. While Dhoni became the 3rd wicket keeper batsman to amass 9000 runs, Adam Gilchrist and Kumar Sangakara are the only two ahead of him. He now also holds the Indian record for maximum number of sixes in ODIs.Earlier, being asked to bat first, the visitors were cleaned up on 285 runs. Part timer Kedar Jhadav and Paceman took 3 wickets each while Amit Mishra and Jasprit Bumrah had couple of wickets to their name.
