Violent protests have broken out in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, less than two months before it hosts the football World Cup. The clashes between police and residents of an area in the city were sparked by the death of a local man. His family have accused the police of beating him to death after mistaking him for a drug peddler. Main roads of the tourist area of Copacabana were closed after the violence
