The Uttar Pradesh government has announced an ex gratia of Rupees twenty lakh each to the kin of two policemen who were shot dead in Firozabad today. Announcing the compensation, the UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that the two policemen who died in an encounter in Firozabad, lost their lives to ensure law and order in the state. The incident led to a violent protest in the Ramgarh of Firozabad. Protestors in Firozabad blocked the roads and were seen hurling stones and vandalising buses.
AIR correspondent reports that while r esponding to allegations of lawlessness prevailing in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who was on a visit to Varanasi, said that he has ordered officials to take every action possible in any incident which is reported, without any bias. On the recent killing of two policemen in Firozabad District, Akhilesh said, the policemen were brave and died while carrying out their duties.
Unidentified miscreants killed the two police officials while they were on a patrol early in the morning on Monday. There were around six people who fired shots at the policemen, Giriraj Kishor and Dinesh Kumar, as they tried to stop them. One policeman died on the spot while the other was rushed to a hospital after being seriously injured but couldn't be saved.
