Violence mars 2nd day of Maoist bandh in Jharkhand & Bihar

In Jharkhand, Maoists blew up a school building in Chatra district early this morning. Superintendent of Police, D B Sharma, told reporters in Chatra that a group of armed Maoists packed dynamites inside the Nawadih Middle School and triggered the blast, damaging its three rooms. CPI (Maoists) have been observing a 48-hour bandh in Jharkhand and Bihar since yesterday.The bandh has impacted rural Jharkhand, affecting transport. However, the bandh failed to evoke any response in urban areas. The police have tightened security at vital points and are patrolling railway tracks at several places in naxal-pockets.In another incident, CPI Maoists blew up railway track between Narganjo and Ghorparan railway station of East- Central Railway. Maoists also ransacked Banshipur Railway Station in Lakhisarai district of the state late last night. Maoists torched communication system installed in the Railway cabin of the station. Before carrying out the audacious act, Maoist took three railway employees including its station master, hostage. The railway employees were released subsequently.AIR Patna Correspondent K.K. reports that Rail traffic on Patna-Howrah section has been badly affected following blowing up of railway track and failure of communication system at Banshipur railway station. Railway officials have reached on the spot and efforts are on to restore the rail traffic on this section.In another incident, Maoists blew up Sangrampur block office of Munger district using dynamite. They also blew up two mobile towers in Gaya and Aurangabad districts of Bihar.
