In Jammu and Kashmir, a villager was washed away in flash floods triggered by heavy rains in Rajouri district on Wednesday . His body was later recovered from the nallah. Seven other persons were rescued from the deluge in Samba, Kathua and Jammu districts of the state. Four houses also collapsed in Kathua district's Bilawar belt in which two persons were injured. Two more houses collapsed in Reasi district's Mahore belt, but no one was injured. Due to lightening in Manajkote area of Rajouri district , 40 houses got partially damaged.The flash floods also washed way some temporary property of migrants, camped on the bank of Manjakote river. Meanwhile, chopper service to the Vaishno Devi Shrine remained suspended for the sixth day today while a pilgrim was injured due to landslides in the way Bhawan situated in Trikuta Hills of mountainous Reasi district.The Chopper service which was suspended on 18th August could not be resumed even today due to inclement weather. Shrine Board authorities are continuously advising the pilgrims to be alert while performing the Yatra. Even as the Yatra is in progress but the new track has been closed following heavy rains to avoid any untoward incident as it is highly prone to landslides.
