Union rural development minister and former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh was today granted permission by the Adarsh inquiry commission to submit his affidavit till 17th of this month. Deshmukh, who was supposed to file his affidavit today, had moved the commission yesterday seeking more time for submission citing lack of time due to prior ministerial commitments. The plea was placed before the bench headed by Justice (retd) J A Patil , which granted him extension. Deshmukh, who was then chief minister and also held the urban development department portfolio, had dealt with the files pertaining to the high rise Adarsh Housing Society in upscale Colaba.
