Vikas Krishan settles for bronze medal in AIBA qualifiers

Indian boxer Vikas Krishan has settled for a bronze medal in the 75kg category at the International Boxing Association's (AIBA) World Qualifying Tournament. At Baku, Azerbaijan, today, he was ruled out of the semifinal clash owing to a cut on his forehead. However, by reaching the semifinal, Vikas assured himself of an Olympic quota berth. Two other Indian boxers, Manoj Kumar (64kg) and L Devendro Singh (49kg), will be seen in action later today. Manoj Kumar secured an Olympic ticket yesterday by winning in the quarterfinal. So far, three Indian boxers have qualified for the Olympic Games. Apart from Vikas and Manoj, Shiva Thapa (56kg) has also made the cut, booking his berth in the Asian Qualifiers in March.
