Olympian and Indian pugilist Vijender Singh won his maiden professional boxing title the World Boxing Organisation Asia Pacific Super Middleweight last night in New Delhi. He defeated former World Boxing Council European Champion Kerry Hope by a unanimous decision. The Indian scored 98-92, 98-92, 100-90 on the judges card to be called the unanimous winner. Vijender took all 10 rounds to systematically dismantle the Australian boxer and record his seventh straight win in the circuit, a year after turning professional.This was his first win by a decision since turning pro besides other six being knockouts. Vijender after being crowned dedicated this win to the country.Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated boxer Vijender Singh for a hard fought and well deserved win. In a tweet, Mr. Modi said it was yet another display of immense skill, strength & stamina.
