Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today maintained in Parliament that there was no loan waiver of Vijay Mallya promoted Kingfisher Airlines and the liability on the borrowers still remains. <br/><br/>Replying to opposition allegation in the Rajya Sabha during the demonitisation debate, Mr. Jaitley asked opposition members not to go by the literal meaning of write-off as it does not mean loan waiver. He said the loan still remains.<br/><br/>The Minister was replying to CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury who referred to a newspaper report which said SBI wrote off loans of wilful defaulters including Rs 1,200 crore of Kingfisher Airlines. <br/><br/>Without specifically referring to the Kingfisher case, Mr. Jaitley said, this loan was restructured when another government was in power.
