India today clinched their first Silver medal in the London Olympics. Pistol Shooter Vijay Kumar finished second in the 25 metres Rapid Fire Pistol event with a score of thirty. This is India's second medal in the London Olympics. Earlier, shooter Gagan Narang won a Bronze in Men's 10 metre Air Rifle event.

The Gold in today's 25 metres Rapid Fire Pistol event was clinched by Cuba's Leuris Pupo with a score of 34. The Bronze went to China.

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has announced cash award of one crore rupees to Silver Medal winner Vijay Kumar. The Chief Minister said that the state government will honour him with Himachal Gaurav Praskar on 15th August, 2012.
