Vijay Hazare Trophy: Gujarat to take on Delhi in final

Gujarat will meet Delhi in the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy cricket tournament in Bengaluru on Monday. In the semi-finals played today, while Gujarat beat Tamil Nadu by 31 runs, Delhi defeated Himachal Pradesh by six wickets. The final will be a Day/Night fixture and will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium from 2.30 p.m.In the semi-final match played at Alur, Karnataka, left-arm spinner Axar Patel wreaked havoc recording a career-best figures of 6 for 43 as Gujarat beat Tamil Nadu by 31 runs. Batting first, Gujarat scored a decent 248 for 8 with contributions from middle-order batsmen Chirag Gandhi who made 71 and Manprit Juneja who was out for 74. For Tamil Nadu, their skipper Ravichandran Ashwin was the most successful bowler with 3 for 51 in 10 overs. In reply, Tamil Nadu were all out for 217 in 47.3 overs. Axar's ran through the Tamil Nadu top-order despite India discard Abhinav Mukund carrying his bat through the innings with an unbeaten knock of 104. Tamil Nadu slumped from 84 for no loss, to 99 for 4 as Axar struck four times in his first three overs.In today's other last four encounter at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, Delhi cruised into the final of the tournament as they rode on Unmukt Chand's fine unbeaten 80. After Delhi captain Gautam Gambhir chose to field, his bowlers restricted Himachal to 200 for nine in 50 overs. Chasing a modest total of 201, Delhi were helped by Man of the Match Unmukt Chand's 86-ball knock.
