Vietnamese President in India on four day visit

Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang who is in Bangalore on the first leg of his four day State visit to India will arrive in New Delhi this evening. He will visit IT giant Infosys in Bangalore.

The visiting President will hold delegation level talks with Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at Hyderabad House in New Delhi tomorrow to strengthen India-Vietnam bilateral strategic partnership and to explore new areas of cooperation. He will also exchange views with captains of industry to enhance trade and commerce between the two countries. Bilateral trade between the two countries stood at around three billion US Dollars in 2009 which was much higher than last year's target. The Vietnamese President will also hold discussions with the External Affairs and Defence Ministers besides Leader of the Opposition in the Loksabha on issues of mutual concern.

Our correspondent reports that President Sang will be accorded a ceremonial reception at the forecourts of the Rashtrapati Bhavan tomorrow morning. Later he is scheduled to visit Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi. The President Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil is also hosting a banquet in the evening in honour of the visiting dignitary. Before leaving for Colombo on Thursday, Mr Sang will also visit Mumbai.
