A 14-member Vietnamese Parliamentary delegation called upon Meghalaya Governor Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahari on Monday evening at the Raj Bhavan in Shillong. The delegation, led by India educated Dr Nguyen Van Tien, Vice-chairman of Vietnam Parliamentary Committee for Social Affairs, held discussions with the State Governor on education and social sectors. Interacting with media persons after the meeting, Mr Tien said that 30 per cent of medicines imported in Vietnam, especially cheap generic ones, are sourced from India.Meghalaya Speaker Charles Pyngrope was also present at the meeting. He will be leading a 15-member strong Legislative delegation to Philippines and Vietnam shortly to learn from these countries among others on population control.
