Videograph panchayat poll process: UP EC

In Uttar Pradesh, the State Election Commission has directed complete videography of polling process of election of Chairman of Zila Panchayats. Voting for the elections will be held on Sunday.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that in its directive to all concerned district magistrates, the Commission has asked for deployment of a magistrate at polling venue with a videographer for the purpose. Mobile phones will not be allowed at voting place and only newly elected members of Zila Panchayats and candidates will be allowed inside polling venue, according to the Commission’s directive. All district police chiefs, DIGs and IGs are told to provide adequate security to the members for free and fair poll.In 22 districts in the state, Chairpersons of Zila Panchayats have been elected unopposed, including 15 women. The Opposition parties have accused ruling Bahujan Samaj Party of misusing Government machinery and mussel power to capture Zila Panchayats.Meanwhile, on the direction of the Allahabad High Court, the Commission has removed district Magistrate Mathura and asked the State Government for a panel of three officers to replace him.
