Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari would be reaching at Sewagram in Wardha district tomorrow for a day-long visit. He would be presenting the coveted International Gandhi Awards 2009 at a special function being held in Wardha.<br/><br/>The two recipients of the International Gandhi Awards include Vidarbha Maharogi Sewa Mandal, a non-governmental organisation in Amravati district and Dr.Vijaykumar Panikkar former team leader of the Global Leprosy Programme. <br/><br/>These awards were instituted in 1986 by the Gandhi Memorial Leprosy Foundation to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s service to persons affected by leprosy and his scientific approach to it. <br/><br/>The awards are given in recognition to the outstanding contribution for eradication of leprosy and welfare of the affected people on individual as well as institutional level.
