Vice Prez inaugurates exhibition on science & technology innovations

Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari inaugurated an exhibition on science and technology innovations in Parliament Complex on Friday. Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and several ministers were present.<br/><br/>Opening the exhibition, Mr Ansari underlined the importance of promoting scientific temper in the country. He said presently less than one per cent of the country's GDP is spent on scientific research and development. This is highly inadequate and must be increased. In comparison, Germany spends nearly three per cent of its GDP on scientific research, he said. <br/><br/>Speaker Sumitra Mahajan stressed that technology should be women-friendly. It scope must broadened to cover common people. Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh said India is now in the frontline of space technology. Its achievements in this field are hailed worldwide.
