Vice Prez inaugurates birth centenary celebration of noted Hindi poet ‘Agyeya’ in Kolkata

The Vice President Mohd. Hameed Ansari inaugurated the birth centenary celebration of the noted Hindi poet and writer Sachidananda Hiranand Vatsyayan Agyeya in Kolkata this morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohd. Ansari said that Vatsyayanji struggled to make Hindi a vibrant, volatile, alive and growing language but not a standard, well regulated Hindi for official notification and regulations.

Paying rich tribute to the noted writer, the Vice President said that his writings have opened up many dimensions of reality of his readership. The West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan recalled Agyeya's contribution for the growth and spread of Hindi literature in the country.

The President of the Sahitya Academy Sunil Gangyopadhya also spoke on the occasion. Sachidananda Hiranand Vatsyayan Agyeya is popularly known as Agyeya in the literary circles.

At least 50 renowned literary personalities across the country have joined the three day long celebrations beginning from today.
