Vice-Prez Hamid Ansari to embark on 5 day visit to Armenia, Poland from April 24

Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari will embark on a five day visit to Armenia and Poland from Monday. During the visit, Mr. Ansari will hold talks with the top leaders of the two countries on a wide range of issues. <br/><br/>Briefing media in New Delhi today, Preeti Saran Secretary East, informed that this is the first ever visit of Indian Vice- President to these two countries. She said the visit of Mr. Ansari intends to further strengthen the cordial relation between the two countries, further develop cooperation and partnership on a wide range of issues of shared common interest. <br/><br/>Accompanied by a high level delegation, Vice President will reach the Armenian capital Yerevan on Tuesday. She also informed that India is celebrating 25 years of diplomatic relationship with Armenia this year. In Yerevan, Mr. Ansari will hold talks with Armenian President Serzh Darshan, the Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan and their foreign minister. He is also scheduled to deliver a lecture at Armenia State University. <br/><br/>On his second leg of the journey Mr Ansari will be visiting Warsaw, Poland. In Warsaw, Mr. Ansari will hold discussions with the Polish President, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Senate. Ms Saran also informed that bilateral trade between India and Poland has increased by 25 percent in an year. She said India sees Poland as an emerging economic power. On a question regarding whether NSG membership issue will be discussed during the visit, she said that Poland has been very supportive on this issue.
