The Vice-President Mr M. Hamid Ansari presented the G. D. Birla International Awards at a function in New Delhi today. <br/><br/>Describing the awardees as role models and worth emulating, Mr Ansari applauded the Birla Academy of Art and Culture for instituting these awards and for recognizing their outstanding works.<br/><br/>The Award for Humanism was given to an eminent social activist Mrs. Zokhumi Vankung while Mr. P V Dhanjayans and Mrs. Shanta Dhanjayans, a famous couple recieved the award for Preservation of India,s Cultural Heritage and in the category of Rural Upliftment, the Award was presented to Dr. Percy Barnevik.
