Vice President Hamid Ansari today conferred the Life time Achievement awards to four eminent photographers to commemorate the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Photo Division under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The awardees include 97 years old Homai Vyarawalla, popularly known as the first Indian Lady Photojournalist of the country. Other awardees are S Paul, Benu Sen and K G Maheswari. Congratulating the award recipients, Ansari said that capturing and recording an image requires technique as well as art and creativity.Information and Braodcasting Minister, Ambika Soni emphasised on the need for innovation to keep pace with new formats. She proposed to introduce National Photo Awards for the the Professional and Amateur categories to encourage photography as a profession. A brochure depicting 50 years of the Photo Division was also released on the occassion.
