Vice President Hamid Ansari has filed his nomination papers for a second term as UPA nominee . He is to contest against NDA candidate Jaswant Singh.Following the nomination,the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh expressed happiness that there was a massive support for Mr. Ansari.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi and general secretary Rahul Gandhi alongwith NCP Chief Sharad Pawar ,SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav,besides RJD Supermo Lalu Yadav and others were present on the ocassion.
NDA candidate Jaswant Singh is to file his nomination papers on 20th of this month.Elections will take place on 7th of next month.

The votes for the Presidential poll will be cast tomorrow. UPA has nominated Mr.Pranab Mukherjee in the poll with Trinamool Congress Chief Mamta Banerjee announcing her support for the candidature of Mr.Mukherjee. BJP and several other opposition parties have fielded Mr.P A Sangma in the poll.
Soon after filing his nomination papers, Mr Ansari thanked
UPA and its partners for supporting his candidature.
