Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has stressed the need for protection and preservation of Telugu language and its culture. He said people, governments and media should strive in this direction to use mother tongue in both governance and teaching. <br/><br/>Mr Naidu was formally inaugurating the World Telugu Conference at the La Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad yesterday evening. The Vice President said one should not lose the touch with their mother tongue as it reflects on the social-cultural and political picture of the society. He said it is the duty of all parents and teachers to teach Telugu language to their wards.<br/>'<br/>Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan said Telugu language connects people with their soul. Maharashtra Governor Vidya Sagar Rao said that Telugu was a universal language. He asked the Telangana Government to form a committee to address the problems of all Telugu speaking people across the state.<br/>'<br/>Speaking on the occasion, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao said Telugu is a rich cultural language and assured all efforts will be made to help promote Telugu Language. He said Telugu will be made compulsory to teach from 1st to 12th class from next academic year onwards.<br/>'<br/>About 8 thousand delegates from 42 countries, 17 state from India and from all districts of Telangana are participating in the 5-day conference.
