Vice President Venkaiah Naidu has emphasized the need for empowering women in economic, social and political fields and to make them as partners in nation building. <br/><br/>Addressing the gathering after laying foundation stone for the construction of Regional Vocational Training Institute – RTVI in Hyderabad today he said the major challenge is to increase the women participation in the country's labour for faster economic growth. <br/><br/>He felt that successive governments since independence have been trying to correct the distortion and change the mind set of people by according equal importance to boys and girls in all matters. He said, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme is a step in the direction of educating and empowering the girl child. <br/><br/>The Vice President stated that the studies have shown the increasing women and girls education contributes to higher economic growth. Speaking on the occasion Union Minister for Skill Development and Enterprenurship, Dharmendra Pradhan said empowerment and training for women is the top priority for government. More women will be brought under the work force in the country, he added.
