Vice President Hamid Ansari's visit concludes today

Vice President M. Hamid Ansari's visit comes to an end. In the first leg of his journey, Mr. Ansari visited Yerevan, the Armenian capital. With Vice president's visit to Yerevan, India has strengthened its bilateral ties with the country and have promised to increase people to people contact. <br/><br/>Three agreements were also signed in the field of cultural cooperation, youth affairs and peaceful use of space. The Vice President's visit in the silver jubilee year of diplomatic relations with Armenia has given a new vigour and has opened new channels for high level talks between the two nations.<br/><br/> Mr. Ansari, during his stay at Yerevan met the top leadership of the country; the President, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister. He also delivered a lecture at the Yerevan State University, where he said, countries that have invested in education, built strong consumer economies, and have democratic institutions and deal with social change will benefit more from new technologies. Mr. Ansari also met, His Holiness Karekin II, the supreme patriarch and Catholics of all Armenian.<br/><br/>In the second leg of his journey Mr. Ansari reached Warsaw and held discussions with the top leadership of Poland. After reviewing the entire gamut of bilateral relations, cooperation in various sectors were agreed upon and one MoU was signed in field of agriculture. During the discussions, it was communicated by Poland that it supports India's permanent membership at the expanded UN Security Council. <br/><br/>Poland also reiterated its support to India at Nuclear Suppliers Group and appreciated on being a member of Missile Technology Control Regime. Poland agreed on early adoption of Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the UN. In Warsaw, the Vice President also met the Indian community and encouraged them to bring more business and investments. Addressing an India-Polish business summit, Mr Ansari said, India is a natural destination for Polish businesses? as they look for markets beyond Europe. <br/><br/>He said, India sees Poland as an important emerging economic partner, not just in Europe but in the world. While addressing students at the Warsaw University, the Vice President said, Miracle of Indian democracy continues to shine like a beacon of hope for those who cherish freedom. Later, he inaugurated a new Embassy Complex in Warsaw and then departed for New Delhi.
