Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari met the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo in Jakarta tonight. At the concluding day tomorrow leaders from 21 nations are expected to arrive at a consensus on the historic Indian Ocean Rim Association ( IORA) concord and three other documents. The Vice President reached Jakarta today a two day visit to Indonesia to attend the IORA summit.<br/><br/>Mr. Ansari is likely to meet other leaders from the Indian ocean littoral tomorrow. The Vice President expects the Idea of Blue economy to be one of the areas of future co-operation between these countries. The issues of piracy and terrorism are also going to be on the agenda at IORA leaders' summit. Indonesia became the first country to host the summit. Vice President's visit also strengthens the ties between India and Indonesia. <br/><br/>The Indonesian archipelago has more than 7000 expatriate Indians and the strong cultural bonds between the country will form the basis of cooperation in areas of convergent interests such as disaster management, counter terrorism and fisheries.<br/><br/>Earlier in the day MoS for External Affairs General VK Singh attended the IORA ministerial level talks where representatives of member and associate member states were present. There are more than 2.7 billion people living in countries bordering the Indian Ocean. It makes Indian Ocean as a region that stores strategic potential to develop global business.
