Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari has said that miracle of Indian democracy continues to shine like a beacon of hope for those who cherish freedom. On the last day of his visit to Poland today, Mr. Ansari delivered a lecture at the Warsaw University, visited Warsaw Uprising Museum and inaugurated a new Embassy Complex in Warsaw. <br/><br/>While giving a lecture in the University the Vice President said democracy in India has taken equality and social inclusion as one of its objectives. He said Indian democracy has been a success if measured against universally accepted norms and practices. <br/><br/>On the last day of his two-nation tour to Armenia and Poland, the Vice President said that India's objective is an equitable society to be achieved through a socio-economic transformation using constitutional institutions. He added that democracy has also been a harbinger of social empowerment. <br/><br/>Mr Ansari said that for last 70 years India has worked for democracy to the best of its capacity but not yet to the best of its ability. He added that majority in a democracy no matter how overwhelming, does not invalidate opposition. <br/><br/>The Vice President said that as a visitor from the world's largest democracy one cannot but salute the indomitable Polish spirit reflected in a republic. He said each nation shape their destiny in their own unique way, informed by their historical experience. <br/><br/>The Vice-President has departed from Warsaw to New Delhi.
