The Vice President Mr Hamid Ansari has said that inculcating scientific temper among citizens has been the national goal of the country. Expressing unhappiness over the applied sciences not receiving its due recognition, he said that it is basically due to lack of priority to the pursuit of knowledge.<br/><br/>Giving away the first ever Infosys prize in the field of Sciences, Mr Ansari said that India's sense of inclusive growth can only be achieved by harnessing resources of all including private and public sector. The recipient of the award in the field of Economics is Prof Abhijit Bannerjee for his work on Imperical Evaluation of public policy. Prof Upinder Singh of Delhi University got the award in the field of History for her work on ancient and early medieval Indian history. The award in the field of Physical sciences went to Prof Thanu Padmanabhan in the field of Dark Energy. Prof Ashok Sen received the award in Mathematical Sciences and Prof K. Vijay Raghavan in the field of Life Sciences.
