Vice Admiral Karambir Singh, AVSM has taken over the charge as the Flag Officer commanding-in -Chief of the prestigious Eastern Naval Command (ENC) here today from Vice Admiral HCS Bisht, PVSM, AVSM,ADC at an impressive Ceremonial Parade held at the Naval Base today morning. <br/><br/>Vice Admiral Karambir Singh inspected the ceremonial guard and reviewed platoons of naval personnel drawn from various ships and establishments of the Eastern Naval Command. Mr.Bisht is retiring today after four decades of illustrious career. <br/><br/>He was accorded a farewell by the ENC by the traditional 'pulling out ceremony'. Vice Admiral Karambir Singh, AVSM has commissioned into the Indian Navy in July 1980. Being a student from the National Defense Academy, Khadarkwasla, he earned his wings as a helicopter pilot in 1982 and has flown on chetak and kamov helicopters extensively. <br/><br/>During his career spanning over 37 years, the officer commanded an Indian Coast Guard ship Chandbibi Missile corvette INS Vijaydurg as well as two Guided missile destroyers INS Rana and INS Delhi. Earlier, he served as the Fleet operations officer of the Western Fleet.
