Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for sustainable and inclusive growth. Inaugurating the 7th Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2015 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Mr.Modi said that fluctuations in the global economy is the biggest concern and we need to work for sustainable and inclusive growth to minimize the fluctuations. He said that various countries are coming forward to work with us and India also wants to work with global leadership on issues ranging from poverty to ecology. Prime Minister said that we have made commitments to our people and ourselves and we have made commitments for India’s great future also. He said that India has large number of hands to work and even larger number of dreams to be realized.
Prime Minister said that ease of doing business in India is a prime concern and assured the world leaders that the Government of India is working very seriously on these issues. He said that the Government is working towards single window clearance at the federal and state levels. He said that India is keen to move towards the next generation infrastructure, as we need highways and also i-ways or information-ways too.
Addressing the Summit, the World leaders and experts across the world also called for greater and continuous economic reforms in the country. World Bank President Jim Yong Kim said that tax and subsidy reforms are essential for inclusive growth in India.
Large conglomerates from India and abroad today announced huge investment and job creation plans at the three-day Vibrant Gujarat Summit. During the inaugural session, Reliance Industries chief Mukesh Ambani said that his group would invest 1 lakh crore rupees in Gujarat in next one and half year. Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla of Aditya Birla Group announced investment plans for 20 thousand crore in the state. Among foreign companies, Australian mining giant Rio Tinto’s CEO Sam Walsh said that the group would add 30,000 jobs in diamond cutting industry in Gujarat. He said that Australia is looking forward to the state as a promising business destination.
Vibrant Gujarat Summit (VGS) is a biennial global business summit, being held since 2003, when Modi was Chief Minister of the state, and has always seen huge investment commitments running into billions of dollars being announced by business leaders from India and abroad.
