Veterans to be consulted but party to decide future role: BJP President

In Gujarat, Senior BJP leaders including party president Rajnath Singh and Narendra Modi discussed party strategy at a meeting held in Gandhinagar for the formation of a new Government at the Center.

The meeting at the residence of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, lasted over five hours last night. Former party president Nitin Gadkari and leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitly were also present at the meeting.

Our Ahmedabad correspondent reports that after the meeting, Rajnath Singh said there is no rift between the party leaders and the role of the party's veteran leaders in the new Government will be decided at the party’s parliamentary board meeting in Delhi on Saturday. Earlier he said that senior leaders will be consulted before deciding their roles in the future government.

Our correspondent giving more details reports that the senior BJP leaders who met at the Gandhingar residence of Narendra Modi have chalked out the party’s strategy to form the new Government.

They had detailed discussions on who will join the Government and the role played by them. With the announcement of poll results due, the BJP’s core group have also discussed the party’s strategy to form the Government, if the NDA does not get clear majority.

Similarly, the role of the party’s stalwarts and NDA partners have also been discussed in detail.
