Veteran music director and lyricist Ravindra Jain passed away at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital on Friday.<br/><br/>The 71 year old breathed his last at 4:10 PM.<br/><br/>Lately, Mr. Jain had been suffering from a urinary infection that had affected his kidneys. His condition worsened last Sunday when he had gone to Nagpur for a concert.<br/><br/>He was later airlifted to Mumbai and put on ventilator support.<br/><br/>He is survived by his wife Divya and son Ayush.<br/><br/>The funeral will take place tomorrow.<br/><br/>A report on Mr. Jain's contribution to music:<br/><br/>A soulful musician, an accomplished lyricist and renowned vocalist Ravindra Jain began his musical journey in Bollywood in the 1970s.<br/><br/>'Chor Machaye Shor', 'Geet Gaata Chal', 'Chitchor', 'Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se', 'Nadiya ke Paar', 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili', 'Do Jasoos' and 'Henna' are some of his works that brought him fame.<br/><br/>Mr. Jain composed music for almost 150 movies in his lifetime apart from working with Sagar Films for their television series.<br/><br/>His popular and unforgettable work on the small screen includes Ramanand Sagar's "Ramayan", "Shri Krishna", "Alif Laila" and Mahabharat.<br/><br/>Mr. Jain had won the Filmfare Award for Best Music for 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili' in 1985 and also the Maharashtra government's Lata Mangeshkar Lifetime Achievement Award.<br/><br/>He was also conferred the Padmashri Award this year.<br/><br/>Born in the family of a Sanskrit scholar on 28th February 1944 in Aligarh; Ravindra Jain never let his visual disability hinder his multiple talents.<br/><br/>He started reciting bhajans and poetry at nearby Jain temples at a very tender age and continued to entertain the audiences till his last days.<br/><br/>His songs like "Geet Gaata Chal, O Saathi Gungunata Chal"; "Sajana hai mujhe Sajana ke liye"; "Thande-Thande pani se nahana Chaiye" and his verses in Ramayana and Mahabharata will be remembered forever.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the passing away of noted music composer Ravindra Jain.<br/><br/>In his condolence message, Mr. Modi said Ravindra Jain will be remembered for his versatile music and fighting spirit.<br/><br/>Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Col.
