Veteran Malayalam Actor Jose Prakash is dead. He was 86. He died at a private hospital in Kochi this afternoon.

Entering the world of Malayalam films in 1953 as a singer-actor in the movie Seriyo Thetto, Jose Prakash has acted in over 300 films.He is best remembered for the villain characters he portrayed. His films include Lisa, CID Nazir, Eetta, Olavum Theeravum, Manushya Mrigam and Mamankam among others.

On Friday, the state government had announced the J C Daniel Award to the veteran actor, for his lifetime achievements and outstanding contributions to Malayalam cinema. The Kerala Chief Minister was scheduled to present the award to the actor at the hospital on Sunday morning.

The funeral will take place on Monday at the Ernakulam St Mary's Baslica Cemetery.
