Verdict on Mujib killers' review petitions on Wednesday

<br/>The Bangladesh Supreme Court will give its verdict on Wednesday on the review petitions of five former army officers facing death penalties for the 1975 murder of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.<br/><br/>The special four-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by chief justice Md Tafazzul Islam, set the date after three days of hearings on the petitions for review.<br/><br/>The convicted killers of Bangabandhu, Syed Farooq Rahman, Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, Mohiuddin Ahmed, Bazlul Huda and AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed had filed the review petitions with the apex court against the death sentence confirmed by the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.<br/><br/>On Jan 3 this year, Dhaka district and sessions judge signed and sent death warrants for all five to Dhaka Central Jail, where the convicted killers are being held in condemned cells. The fate of all the five convicts now depends on the Supreme Court’s decision on their review petitions.
