Venkaiah Naidu confers 319 National awards to teachers

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu today conferred 319 National Award to Teachers on the occasion of Teacher's Day in a function at New Delhi. On this occasion the Vice President said, India has a great cultural educational heritage.<br/><br/>Mr Naidu said, education is the most crucial foundation for nation building. He said, teachers should be given credit for country's development and shaping the future of children.<br/><br/>On the occasion, Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision is teach to transform, educate to empower and learn to lead. He said government target is to give good education to all.<br/><br/>The Vice President also launched DIKSHA protel, a National Digital Infrastructure for Teachers. It is a unique initiative which leverages existing highly scalable and flexible digital infrastructures, while keeping teachers at the center.<br/><br/>National Teachers Award was given as public recognition to meritorious teachers working in primary, middle and secondary schools.The awards which were instituted in 1958 carry a medal, certificate, and award money of 50 thousand rupees. Special Awards also have been instituted for special educators who promote inclusive education in schools.
