Venkaiah Naidu appeales people to join integrated development

Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu today appealed to people to join the integrated development with special focus on weaker sections that has been taken up by the Government. <br/><br/>He said postal department has vital role to play in the mission as it is presently contributing considerably to the financial inclusion. He was addressing an impressive gathering in Hyderabad after launching the separate Telangana Postal Circle this morning. He said the postal department is implementing the Antyodaya principle of the Government in its true spirit by offering its services to the last citizen in the country.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Union Communication Minister Manoj Sinha said the Payment Bank of the postal department will open 650 branches by next year across the country. Lauding the role that the postal department is playing for financial inclusion he said it achieved over 23 per cent growth during the last financial year. Stating that the responsibility of disbursement of social welfare pensions and Mahatma Gandhi NREGA payments is lying on postal department, Mr Manoj said the department will focus of working with Railways in the field of parcel services. The minister also assured that the Telecome department also will be bifurcated soon for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as per the AP Reorganization Act.<br/><br/>Union Labour minister Dattatreya, Chief Post Master General Brigadier Chandrasekhar also present on the occasion. The Telangana Postal Circle will operate with a total 5758 post offices and over 15 thousand staff in both urban and rural areas.
