Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has said, he will form a new constituent National Assembly with powers to rewrite the constitution. <br/><br/>Addressing a May Day rally in capital Caracas, the President said the new body will be made up of pro-government worker's groups along with civic society groups. He said, only half of the 500-member assembly, or less, would be elected and political parties would not participate.<br/><br/>Opposition said, it is another attempt to sideline the current opposition-led National Assembly and potentially avoid elections amid recession and protests that have led to 29 deaths in the last month.<br/><br/>President of the National Assembly, Julio Borges said, the attempt to set up the new constituent assembly was an attempt to destroy Venezuelans' right to vote and another step towards a political coup.
