In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the vehicular traffic on the 270- kilometre long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH44) remained suspended since Sunday evening when about 150- metre long road stretch before a bridge at Kela Mod in Ramban sank and caved in. AIR correspondent reports that the National Highway connecting Kashmir valley with rest of the country will remain closed for the next few days.<br />'' <br />''The authorities stated that the crucial surface link connecting Kashmir with rest of the world, will remain shut for the next five days due to major damage to the road and a bridge near Ramban. Additional Director General of Police (Traffic) T. Namgyal said that it will take at least five days to restore the highway for traffic movement.
