Union Minister Vayalar Ravi today said the government cannot mortgage people's interests to big business houses. Asked to comment on criticism by corporate honchos of policy paralysis affecting economic growth rate, Mr Ravi said the criticism is totally unjustified. The minister for Overseas Indian Affairs added that the corporate sector wants the government to make policies only to protect their interests.
Noting that all major economies in the world are going through a very difficult phase, Mr. Ravi exuded confidence that the Indian economy will come out of the current situation very soon. He said, the government was putting its best efforts to improve the economic growth rate.
