Various steps being taken to improve functional quality of AIR, DD programmes: Govt

The government today said that various steps are being taken to improve the functional quality of programmes of All India Radio and Doordarshan(DD). Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, minister of state for information and broadcasting Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said the Prasar Bharati Board has decided to invite good programmes from production houses to be telecast initially on Doordarshan's national channel. <br/><br/>He said modernization of AIR and DD is a continuous process. He said modernization plan covers a broad spectrum includes digitalization and adoption of new technologies at par with international standards.<br/><br/>Col Rathore said more AIR channels are also being provided on Doordarshan's DTH and internet platforms.<br/><br/>He said setting up of new FM transmitters at new locations are under implementation in the country as per the schemes approved under the 12th plan. Col Rathore said equipment envisaged as part of 12th plan new schemes, are at various stages of procurement.<br/><br/>The minister said there will be no dearth of funds for the functioning of the Kissan channel.
