Various schemes implemented by govt to increase processing of fruits & vegetables, says Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras

<span style="color: #222222;">India is the second largest producer of fruits and vegetables in the world. This information was given by Food Processing Industries Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today. He said, a sizable part of the same goes waste in the absence of adequate processing facilities. The estimated annual harvest and post-harvest losses in these sub-sectors varies from nearly five to sixteen per cent.<br />''<br />''The Minister said, with a view to raise the processing level, the government has been implementing a Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, PMKSY since 2016. Apart from this, Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan is also implementing a Centrally-sponsored Prime Ministers' Formalization of Micro food processing Enterprises, PMFME Scheme since 2020 and Product Linked Incentive, PLI Scheme since 2021.<br />''<br />''Mr Paras said, under PMKSY 1028 projects have been sanctioned across the country, out of which 630 projects have been completed.<br />''<br />'' He said, four thousand 869 loan applications sanctioned under PMFME scheme and 7,721 crore rupees proposed investment approved under PLI scheme in the country.</span><br />
