Union Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has said that government has taken various initiates to revive the textile sector. Addressing the valedictory session of the three day Mega event-Textiles India 2017 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, he said, due to efforts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the popularity of Khadi products has increased among youths. Mr Naidu said, Textiles sector has been a part of India's cultural tradition and has contributed immensely towards socio-economic development. <br/><br/>He said, the sector will continue to play a crucial role in the country's promising growth story especially in employment generation, foreign exchange earnings and inclusive growth. Emphasizing the need to give textile a branding, the Minister said, abundant skill is available in India. He said by branding handlooms, the government has given a fillip to the handloom industry- the rich heritage of our nation.<br/><br/><br/>He complimented Textiles Ministry for holding such a mega event, and said it showcases India's strength in textile and apparel value chain, establishing it as a global sourcing & investment destination. He stressed on the importance of Technical Textiles for accelerating the growth in the promotion of environmental friendly sustainable building technology and infrastructure development. Vice Chairman of NITI Ayog Arvind Pangariya who was also present on the occasion said that textiles sector has the potential to create more jobs. Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani, MoS Ajay Tamta were also present on the occasion.
