Varanasi court orders completion of Gyanvapi mosque survey, report by May 17

<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #222222;">In Uttar Pradesh, a Varanasi Court has ordered the District Administration to ensure the completion of the survey of the Gyanvapi mosque by 17th of May and submit the detailed report before it. The court has rejected the Anzuman Intezamia Masajid Committee's petition seeking the removal of the Advocate Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra who is entrusted with carrying out the survey. </span></p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #222222;">The court has also appointed a Special Advocate Commissioner and an Assistant Advocate Commissioner to carry out the survey work.</span></p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">As per the court's directive in the last week of April this year, the survey of the Gyanvapi premises began on 6th of May amidst protests. The survey was stopped on the next day and Anzuman Intezamia Masajid Committee filed a petition in the court requesting for the change of court-appointed Advocate Commissioner. </p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">A counter-petition was also filed the next day, praying the court to issue an order for the completion of the videography of the mosque premises including the basement.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #222222;">The case pertains to a petition filed a year back in which the petitioners have asked for the permission for daily worship and performing rituals at Gyanvapi mosque-Shringar Gauri temple premises.</span></p>
