Valmiki Jananti is being observed today. It is birth anniversary of first poet of Sanskrit literature Maharishi Valmiki. He authored the epic Ramayana. This day is also referred as Pragat Diwas. On this occasion, people pay their respects towards the renowned poet. The processions called Shobha Yatra is also taken out to mark the occasion.
