In Jammu and Kashmir, Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage yesterday set a new record when the number of pilgrims performing darshans of the holy cave crossed 51 thousand. Sources said, it was, so far, the highest figure of pilgrims on a single day. <br/><br/>They said, despite such a large number of pilgrims, the yatra was progressing smoothly at all places including Adh Kunwari, Sanji Chat and shrine area from both the tracks. During normal days 25,000 to 30,000 pilgrims pay obeisance to the Goddess while the number goes up to 35,000 or 40,000 in the weekends. It may be mentioned here that after witnessing slump during 2014 and 2015, the pilgrimage to holy cave shrine in Trikuta Hills of Katra, has started witnessing rise this year.
