Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday called upon Maoists to shun violence and join the political mainstream saying that history has proved all over the world that ballot is more powerful than the bullet. <br/><br/>Addressing the inaugural function of the 18th Chhattisgarh foundation day celebration at Naya Raipur, he said, those believe in bloodshed must realize that nothing will happen through violence. Mr Naidu said, no revolution will take place through violence and no change can be brought about through killings and preventing development.<br/><br/>Stating that democracy is the only solution, the vice-president appealed to the Maoists to come forward to win the hearts of the people by working for their development.<br/>'<br/>Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Raman Singh said, his government has prepared a roadmap for state's development and its focus is on village, poor and farmers while taking initiatives for the all-round development of the state. <br/><br/>Governor Balramji Das Tandon, State Assembly Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal and ministers of state government were among those present on the occasion. Rajyotsav celebrations will continue for five days and various departments have set up their stalls at the venue depicting their development initiatives.
