Votes were cast today in Parliament House to elect the next Vice- President of India.

There are only two candidates in the fray. UPA candidate Mohd. Hamid Ansari is pitted against the NDA nominee Jaswant Singh.

Counting of votes will be taken up at around 6 pm. The returning officer for the Vice-Presidential poll and the Secretary-General of the Lok Sabha T K Vishwanathan will announce the result of poll at around 7 pm. Incumbent Vice-President Ansari completes his tenure on Friday.
