In Uttarakhand, Kailash-Mansarovar Yaatris including some other pilgrims and tourists were airlifted by Indian Air Force helicopters today. They were stranded in Pithoragarh and Uttarkashi due to inclement weather for the past few days. Relief operation with the help of ITBP and NDRF is in full swing. State government has announced two lakh fifty thousand rupees ex-gratia to the kin of deceased. Met department predicts isolated rain in next 24 hours.AIR correspondent reports that Mansarovar Yaatra was concluded today. The 37 pilgrims were airlifted by helicopters to Dharchula. The pilgrims will now leave for Tanakpur via Pithoragarh- Tanakpur highway and rest at Tanakpur tonight. Meanwhile, rescue operation is on, on a war footing and four helicopters are deployed to rescue the stranded people and to supply of essential commodities in remote areas. However, a number of roads are still blocked in the state. The personnel of BRO and PWD are working round the clock to open the road. Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Union Minister of state Harish Rawat had visited the affected areas today.
