Governor of Uttarakhand Margaret Alva has ordered the release of 16 convicts serving life terms in various prisons in the State. The orders issued on the occasion of 10th foundation day of the state. The decision with regard to commuting the remainder period of life sentence of the prisoners, who had served over 14 years of life imprisonment, was taken keeping their good conduct in jail, their old age and infirmity.
