Uttarakhand Governor Margaret Alva has asked the state government to provide better facilities to people putting up in makeshift units since natural disasters struck the hill state last month. She told Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Dr. Rakesh Kumar that this is of utmost importance from a humanitarian point of view. Dr. Kumar met to Governor at the Raj Bhavan to brief her about steps taken by the state government in this direction. According to official release, Smt. Alva said that in view of the approaching winter, it is important to extend timely protection to the affected people, living in tents, tin sheds, community shelters and other public buildings. She said that the state government should also provide them woollen clothes, blankets and food items.
