The Sports Ministry sanctioned an assistance of Rs 3.39 crore last year to Uttarakhand for maintenance of playfields and payment of honorarium to Kridashrees in 1,500 village panchayats and 19 block panchayats.According to a release issued by the Sports Ministry, the assistance has been sanctioned under the Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan– PYKKA. With this a total grant of Rs 31.72 crore has so far been sanctioned to the state for development and maintenance of playfields.PYKKA aims at development and maintenance of playfields in village and block panchayats across the country and organising annual sports competitions from block to national levels.
